Terms of Use

These Terms govern the WhatsLauncher Android application ("WL") provided by AltosCode, Merced 838-A oficina 117, Santiago, Chile. Questions may be sent to contacto@altoscode.com. Mandatory consumer and other legal rights that cannot be excluded remain fully effective.

These Terms cover currently distributed versions and the forthcoming 4.x release. A feature described below applies only when it is available in the version installed on the device.

1. Service

WL can replace the Android HOME screen with a simplified interface focused on contacts and communication. Depending on version and caregiver choices, it may provide favorite and hidden-contact controls, multiple telephone numbers, selected app shortcuts, accessible themes, backup preferences, and assistance for volume, brightness, connectivity, battery, and HOME-app configuration.

WL is not an emergency, medical, monitoring, or tele-assistance service and does not replace human supervision. Users and caregivers should maintain an appropriate way to contact local emergency services.

2. Calls and external applications

WhatsApp video and voice actions require WhatsApp to be installed, available, and able to recognize the selected number. Telephone calls are handed to the device's Phone app for the user to confirm. WL does not guarantee network coverage, account credit, Internet access, or the operation of WhatsApp, Phone, Contacts, Photos, Camera, or any other external app.

Android requires user consent for contacts, HOME selection, and certain settings. WL cannot silently enable Wi-Fi, mobile data, airplane mode, or brightness when Android prevents it; it may instead open the relevant official system panel.

3. Assistive device features

In version 4.x, WL attempts to raise supported system volume channels to a default minimum of 85% when they fall below that level; earlier releases may use a different threshold. WL does not lower a higher volume selected by the user. Results may vary because of Do Not Disturb, manufacturer restrictions, permissions, or Android changes.

Brightness, Internet, airplane-mode, and battery notices are assistive prompts. They do not guarantee that connectivity or device configuration will be restored.

4. Caregiver settings, contacts, and PIN

A person configuring WL must have authority to access the device's contacts and decide which contacts and apps are shown. Names, numbers, and photos remain primarily managed through Android Contacts.

The optional four-digit caregiver PIN only reduces accidental changes. It is not strong authentication and can be bypassed through ten consecutive taps on Settings. It should not be used to protect confidential information from someone with physical access to the device.

5. Backup and device changes

WL may prepare selected preferences for Android Auto Backup or device-to-device transfer. Backup timing and restoration depend on Android, Google, the account, manufacturer, connectivity, and device configuration. A specific backup or restoration is not guaranteed. Permissions and HOME selection must be granted again after reinstalling or changing devices.

6. Advertising and privacy

WL uses banner advertising to support the app. Version 4.x uses Appodeal mediation, which may involve AdMob, Meta Audience Network, and other enabled partners. Essential contacts, calls, and assistive features do not depend on advertising inventory or acceptance of personalized advertising.

7. License and acceptable use

AltosCode grants a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use WL in accordance with these Terms and applicable law. You may not attempt to compromise the app or its providers, distribute a deceptive version, interfere with service delivery, or use WL to violate another person's rights.

Contact names, numbers, photos, and selected apps belong to the user or relevant third parties. WL does not grant rights to that content. The person configuring the device must use it lawfully.

8. Intellectual property and third parties

WL, its visual identity, and protected code belong to AltosCode or their respective licensors. WhatsApp, Android, Google, Firebase, Appodeal, Meta, and other third-party names and marks belong to their owners. Reference to them does not imply sponsorship. External apps and services are also governed by their own terms and policies.

9. Availability, updates, and ending use

AltosCode may correct, update, or withdraw WL from distribution, subject to applicable law. WL does not create an AltosCode account that can be remotely suspended. You may stop using WL, select another HOME app, clear its data, or uninstall it at any time.

Updates may require renewed permissions or review of system settings. WL is designed to keep compatible preferences, but Android, manufacturers, WhatsApp, advertising providers, and other external parties may change or remove functionality.

10. Disclaimers and responsibility

WL is provided according to availability. To the extent permitted by law, uninterrupted operation of Android, WhatsApp, Phone, Internet access, backup, advertising, or other external services is not guaranteed. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights that Chilean or other applicable law does not allow AltosCode to limit.

11. Age

WL is not directed to children under 13. A caregiver is responsible for deciding whether a device is appropriate for a minor and for following applicable child-protection requirements.

12. Governing law and changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Chile, without limiting mandatory rights that apply where the user resides. Material changes will be posted with a new date and communicated in an accessible way when required. Continued use does not waive rights that cannot legally be waived.
